Quotes to invoices
Accepted quote information can move forward into invoice creation instead of being recaptured from scratch.
PROJECT STUDY / BUSINESS WORKFLOW PWA
This UNKNOT project explores a lightweight CRM and accounting workflow for creating, tracking and moving business documents through their normal lifecycle.
Quotes, invoices, statements and credit notes are related, but they are often treated as separate files. That creates repeated capture, inconsistent status tracking and extra effort when information has to be carried from one document to the next.
The project was structured around the document lifecycle rather than around a long menu of accounting features. A quote can become an invoice. Customer and line-item information can be reused. Status, payment terms and document references remain part of the same workflow.
Accepted quote information can move forward into invoice creation instead of being recaptured from scratch.
Quotes, invoices, statements and credit notes are prepared as practical A4 business documents rather than screen-only records.
The workflow includes an acceptance signature page and a configurable commercial structure, with a 50% upfront payment term used as the default starting point.
Document status can be surfaced visually, while operational references such as a CO number remain attached to the relevant record.
Statements consolidate the account view and include ageing information at the bottom for practical follow-up.
Credit notes sit inside the same record set rather than being treated as an unrelated manual workaround.
The useful part is not generating a prettier invoice. It is reducing the repeated movement of the same business information between documents.
A progressive web app provides an app-like working surface without introducing a heavy desktop installation or a large platform simply to manage a relatively clear workflow. The project therefore stays close to the business process: create the customer record, prepare the document, move it forward, and retain a visible status trail.
RELATED THINKING
If an existing accounting package already fits the process, building a custom one would add unnecessary complexity. The value appears when the business needs a narrower workflow that standard tools do not handle cleanly.
